Fundamental LA, an artisanal sandwich shop on Westwood Boulevard, has been drawing rave reviews since its June 2011 opening, but has just recently begun to offer a separate dinner menu that rivals its lunch fare. Sporting a new menu every week, the restaurant’s dinner service (available from 6pm-10pm Monday through Friday, 6pm-midnight on Friday and Saturday) offers stuffed trout with collard greens, house-made pappardelle, and at least four of their coveted sandwiches, among other options. Sustainable ingredients come from partners like Niman Ranch and Nature’s Produce.
If the locally sourced produce and exemplary cuisine at Fundamental doesn’t give you enough of a warm and fuzzy buzz, then how about this: a portion of their sandwich sales go to a new charity each month. February belonged to Southern California’s leading NPR-affiliate station, KCRW, while past charities include the Hammer Museum, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, and St. Vincent Meals on Wheels. Feeling all tingly inside yet?
